Design Story
Crafted in 1970, this 3'6x5'6 Djoswan (Jozan) rug boasts captivating Medieval Blu and Wine tones, adorned with a classic Medallion design. Originating from the esteemed tradition of Persian rug making, this exquisite piece carries the essence of centuries-old craftsmanship. The Djoswan rugs, also known as Jozan, are celebrated for their intricate designs and impeccable quality. This rug, with its timeless appeal and rich hues, serves as a testament to the enduring artistry of Persian rug weaving, capturing the essence of elegance and heritage in every knot.

City Story
Jozan rugs originate from the village of Jozan nestled in the Iranian Malayer region, renowned for their superior craftsmanship and intricate patterns. Also referred to as Jozan Sarouk or Malayer Sarouk rugs, they boast exceptional durability and are crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Unlike the single knot technique used in Hamedan rugs, Jozan rugs employ a robust double knot, enhancing their resilience. Their double-wefted construction on a cotton foundation further contributes to their longevity. These rugs bear resemblance to early 20th-century Sarouks, sharing similar textures and often featuring elaborate designs. Typically smaller in size, ranging from mat-size to approximately seven feet by four feet six inches, Jozan rugs exude timeless elegance with classic color schemes such as red, blue, ivory, or light blue. They commonly showcase a central medallion surrounded by floral motifs, adding to their allure. The art of weaving Jozan rugs is deeply rooted in tradition and meticulous craftsmanship, with techniques handed down through generations. Each rug is a testament to centuries of expertise and dedication, making them cherished heirlooms and prized possessions.
