A Djoswan rug from circa 1970, measuring 3'6" x 5'6", is anchored by a large, ornate lobed medallion. The medieval blue field is profusely decorated with a dense garden of flowering vines, palmettes, and rosettes. The central medallion echoes these floral motifs, creating a richly detailed tapestry of curvilinear patterns. A vibrant wine-red main border with a classic Herati pattern of palmettes and scrolling vines encloses the design.
