Ek Aur AnekIn the quiet environment of jail, where every individual has to serve a part of their own, unity prevails when three weaver artists in the workshop of Alwar jail come together on one loom, creating a Manchaha. At first, their thoughts were scattered, each mind wandering in its own direction. They wove randomly, umbrellas, abstract patterns. Then, one day, Charanjeet wove a single bird onto the rug. It was a simple gesture, but it sparked something between them. The bird became a conversation starter. Vinod began weaving plants and animals around the bird, making it look like a little world of its own. But Bantu, with his playful spirit, teased them both. The dark stripy pattern beneath the bird looked like a trap to him. "It seems like Vinod wants to catch your bird, like a hunter," he joked, and the loom filled with laughter. Amid their light-hearted teasing, a memory stirred in Charanjeet’s mind of the old story of the birds and the hunter. In the tale, a flock of birds is caught in a hunter’s trap. Alone, no bird could escape. But together, they lifted the net and flew to freedom. The story carried a simple yet profound truth, what one cannot do alone, many can achieve together. Inspired by this lesson, the trio found a new rhythm. Together, they decided to fill the rug with flying birds as symbols of freedom, woven in the shape of spades. At the top of the rug, they left a golden section, a glowing hue, a sky full of promises. They saved the color for last, a final flourish to mark their journey together. They named their creation "Ek Aur Anek", meaning “One and Many”. a fitting tribute to the story they had remembered and the bond they had built. Alone, we may be limited—but together, we can rise.
