Durga Devi learned the art of weaving from her mother-in-law, Kanta Devi. Over the years, the two have developed a shared design language, and weaving Manchahas together has become one of their favourite ways to spend time. Mountains appear in almost every rug they create. Interestingly, their village is not surrounded by mountains, yet they continue to return to this motif. In this Manchaha, they paired their signature mountain forms with winding paths, falling rain, and delicate natural motifs, creating a landscape that feels both familiar and imagined. When asked why mountains are so important to her, Durga Devi shared a thoughtful answer. She said that Rajasthan is home to the ancient Aravalli Range, a part of the state's heritage that she feels does not receive enough recognition. Through her Manchahas, she wants to celebrate this landscape and preserve it in her own way. Inspired by this belief, the duo named the Manchaha “Sanskriti” (Culture)—a tribute to the traditions, landscapes, and cultural heritage that continue to shape their lives.
