Aasha ka Savera
“There is always light after darkness, always sun after rain.” With this hopeful thought, Farid and Gulshan wove this Manchaha called “Aasha ka Savera,” meaning “Dawn of Hope.” In this Manchaha, the weavers have showcased the dark clouds with dark brown yarns. From these clouds, the Sun rays are creeping out, which is showcased by the slant leheriya design with flowers intertwined beautifully with the lines. This design talks about the concept that there will always be light after darkness. At the top of this rug, they have represented the clear sky with light blue yarns and sun rays with mustard yellow yarns. They have also woven plants at the bottom right of this rug to reflect the idea of growth after rain. While explaining the bird motifs at the top, the weavers said that there would come a day when they would be released from jail and be free like the birds. They shared that they spent many dark days in jail, and now they are waiting for the dawn of hope to rise in their lives.
