Sardi Ka KohraWhen thick fog wraps around the villages in a soft, mysterious veil in the chilly winters, our weavers find a new kind of beauty. Mamta Devi, Mamta, and Rekha decided to capture this magic in their Manchaha rug. Working with light beige and ivory threads seemed intimidating at first. Winters are tough on the loom; the cold bites at their fingers, testing their endurance. But the fog transformed their familiar surroundings into hazy, dreamlike landscapes. Blurred mountains, winding roads, the chill in the air, and mist-covered land began to take shape into their creation. In the center of the rug, a small tea kettle appeared, with warm memories of the many tea breaks the weavers took to enjoy moments of chatter. They explained with a laugh that this detail symbolizes the warmth and humanness shared during their creative process. The result is "Sardi ka Kohra," weaving winter's whispers, a hand-knotted rug that beautifully captures the essence of a winter's day in the village.
