Bel
Creepers dont follow the rules when it comes to growing. They grow everywhere, creeping into their surroundings. Art grows like a creeper in us. We just have to let it grow. Susheela named her carpet after a Hindi word for creepers -" Bel." She weaves a lot of creepers all over her hand-knotted rug. This Manchaha rug is Susheelas first ever Manchaha experience alone. She kept her eyes open, taking inspiration from mundane things, and weaved them as her creepers grew all over the rug. She took inspiration from a Chatai (floor mat) that her husband got from Jaipur. She weaved designs from a cot. She weaved a little of Lehereiya (waves) and Shakarpara (diamonds). She has weaved a big X in the middle, giving it a classy look. On either side of which, she has weaved two routes leading to the upper part of the carpet. She has woven stars, too, saying that she sees stars around her village every night. However, people living in the cities do not get to see them that easily. She wants to gift the viewers with the beauty of stars. She received a lot of blue-colored wool and silk yarns, which is why blue dominates the carpet. Her mind picks beauty lies in ordinary life, and her hands weave them on the rug.
