Prem crafted this Manchaha in Ajmer Jail during his incarceration. He got super excited when he received aqua blue colors which resonates with his love for water and the ocean. He shared his memories of swimming in the village ponds and his interest in watching Discovery Channel on television, his fascination for the big ocean and the unusual water creatures inside it. Initially, he started weaving an ocean bed but as he dived deep into the depths of his imagination, inviting us to join him on this remarkable journey of his hand-knotted creation. He says, “The life inside the ocean never sleeps, it’s always alive, in motion”. He weaved the ever-rolling waves of the ocean all over the carpet using the hand-knotting technique. In the middle, he hand-crafted a school of fishes that always stay together in unity. Prem artfully captures the magic of the ocean, emphasizing that it stays vibrant and lively even during rest. He beautifully named his Manchaha rug, “Raat Rani,” drawing inspiration from the Night-blooming Jasmine flower that mirrors his view of the ocean that is as vibrant at night as the blossoming jasmine.
