A Fine Yomut Asmalyk, Northeast Iran, Circa 1900 Size: 2'6" × 3'6" Of distinctive pentagonal form, this striking Yomut Asmalyk was traditionally used as a camel trapping during wedding processions, adorning the flanks of the bridal caravan. The deep mahogany field is densely populated with a finely articulated lattice of stepped and serrated diamond motifs, each intricately filled with smaller geometric elements in tones of velvet red, indigo, and ivory. Framed by narrow borders bearing stylized S motifs and interlocking forms, the composition reflects the precision and symbolic language of Turkmen tribal weaving.
