Dhundhla
For this rug, Dhafali Devi explored how nature could be expressed through mood rather than familiar forms. Inspired by the KAVI x Manchaha philosophy, she looked beyond motifs and focused on building the landscape through colour, texture, and movement. She imagined a sky filled with heavy clouds, where rain and wind slowly blur the horizon. Using layered shades of grey and blue, she created the feeling of a sandstorm meeting the rain. Fine dotted textures and blended yarns soften the composition, giving it a hazy, almost disappearing quality. The rug does not depict the storm directly but captures the feeling of looking through it, when everything appears ‘dhundhla’—blurred yet beautiful. The finished rug reflects one of nature's quietest moments, where clouds, sand, wind, and rain merge into a single atmosphere, inviting the viewer to pause and experience the landscape rather than simply see it.
