This rug is a window into the childhood of its artist, Samreen. Inspired by memories etched deep in her heart, it brings to life the colors, chaos, and charm of village fairs that every child eagerly awaits. As the festive season neared and the village mela returned, Samreen found herself reminiscing while sitting at her loom. She remembered the simple joys of walking hand-in-hand with her parents, buying toys, savoring treats, and rushing toward adventure rides. The bold zigzag patterns at the bottom evoke the thrill of giant slides and rides that made children squeal with delight. Samreen recalled racing down them with her siblings, their hearts pounding in laughter. Just above, colorful checkered boxes represent the game of shooting at vibrant balloons. Other patterns are inspired by the decorative items she loved—bindi stickers, bright clothes, and small treasures picked with care. Through Bachpan Ka Mela (The Childhood Fair), Samreen lives her childhood again.
