Without even realising we have adapted our lives around advertisements. There are advertisements everywhere - the streets we walk on, the newspapers we read, the television we watch, and the mobile screen we scroll. To think of it, advertisements are nothing but the art of selling a product. Most of them will end up having a profound effect on our minds. This Manchaha rug gives its own explanations with the title of “Advertisement.” The weavers Godhi, Sumitra, and Sapna creatively have included a design of an advertisement for Lifebuoy soap. They laugh at their wittiness for taking an advertisement as a muse. Their creative range expands from classic “Lehereiya” to mountains, sky, plant pots, windows, peacock feathered handfans, and tree swings. Sumithra weaved an ‘S’ on the hand-knotted carpet she saw on her mobile. The ladies weaved an imaginary view from an airplane they dreamed of flying on. Artisans weave everything they see and everything they dream.
