Udaipur ki NagriThis hand-knotted rug is called “Udaipur ki Nagri,” meaning “The City of Udaipur.” It is woven by Santosh, Mahendra, and Naresh—three weavers who brought their memories of Udaipur to the loom. Naresh is from Udaipur, and while he is in a circumstance that makes him stay away from his family, he misses the city and his family. When Naresh shared Udaipur's beauty while weaving, they all decided to weave exactly that in this rug. As they wove, they thought of their city. The calm of the lakes. The pride of the old palaces. The way kites fill the sky during festivals. Bit by bit, they placed these memories into the rug through shapes, patterns, and colors. You can see water ripples, temple steps, flying kites, archways, stones, shadows - all the small and big things that make Udaipur what it is. This rug is not just an ode to Udaipur. It’s how the city lives in the hearts of its people. Woven slowly, with care and with love, it becomes a quiet remembrance of home.
