VP Singh, Prem Paswan, Rajjo, and Lalchand started making this Manchaha with tiny patterns like zig-zags, dots, flowers, and diamonds. As they worked on the rug, VP Singh came up with a unique idea. He asked his fellow weavers to keep the zig-zag designs on both sides. In the middle, VP began weaving flowers and small diamonds in a vertical line, making the diamonds bigger as the rug grew. This line stops at the top, where the weavers made larger diamond patterns. VP Singh explained that the small flowers represent the seeds of ideas in their minds. The vertical line shows how these ideas take shape over time. The top of the rug symbolizes a burst of creativity, a state they treasure. Sharing their journey as inmates to designers, the weavers shared that even their own journey from confinement to liberation looks a lot like the design of this rug. With this thought, they named the rug “Utkarsh,” which means “Advancement” in English.

• Only vacuum clean it periodically. Avoid using vacuum beater brush mode
• If spills occur, blot immediately. Do not rub the stain.
• Rotate occasionally to equalize wear.
• Use protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening and piling.
• If thread comes out do not pull the yarn, trim with scissor.
