Zindagi Ek Leher
Life is a wave. Sometimes it washes over you, sometimes it gently lifts you so you can see your dreams, and sometimes it pushes you forward towards your goals. The artisans who made this rug have faced many waves in their lives. And their shared experience of grief and liberation came together on this hand-knotted rug. With a beautiful mix of chevron patterns and colors, the weavers have created an ocean with its distinct waves. They used dark and light yarns to highlight the different depths of the water. Yet, it's the small details that stand out. At the center of the rug, a boat floats along with scattered jewels, symbols of the hidden treasures that lie in the ocean’s deepest parts. This symbolises the treasure-like lessons one learns from life’s toughest challenges. Just above, another boat carries a home with a tree outside, symbolizing their longing for a place to belong. The weavers said that the longer you look at this rug, the more you’ll feel like you’re in a boat sailing through ocean waves. Capturing the unpredictability, the ups and downs, and the ever-changing nature of life, the weavers named the rug “Zindagi Ek Leher,” meaning “Life is a Wave.”
