BadlaavThis rug captures the quiet, unsettling shift toward a more mechanical world. Every motif feels engineered, precise, and calculated. At the base, the weavers have depicted flowers and plants, but not in their natural form. These are robotic, geometric versions—life reimagined through a mechanical lens. Rising from the centre is a "tree of life," filled with flowers, leaves, and butterflies. However, it’s not soft or organic, like a tree would grow. The tree appears constructed—its branches more like wires or pipelines, growing within rigid zig-zag patterns. These zig-zag patterns reflect the monotonous, repetitive rhythm of modern life. Near the top, a circular target symbol appears. It’s a commentary on how we’re all chasing goals—one fixed point—often forgetting actually to live. The rug ends with an explosion of color: diamonds, a vase, blooming flowers. A final reminder that beauty and chaos still exist, even in a mechanised world. They named this hand-knotted rug “Badlaav,” which means “Transformation.”
