Chunari
Being far from home, Mohan Lal often found himself missing his family, most of all, his wife. When he came across a bundle of blue yarn for this Manchaha, it reminded him of her—blue had always been her favorite color. That memory became the seed of his inspiration, and he decided to dedicate this rug to her. As he wove, he kept thinking of a Bandhej ‘Chunari’ she used to wear on special occasions—a vivid image that stayed with him. He chose to divide the rug into two halves: the left side is a memory of that old chunari, while the right side is a dream—the chunari he wishes to gift her when they reunite, one adorned with finer details, glittering mirrors, and delicate embellishments. This hand-knotted rug is a tapestry of longing, love, and devotion. Every knot is a step closer to home.
