Pruthvisingh and Lalchand are among the most hardworking weavers, and this rug, Ashtkon, shows their deep love and dedication to weaving. At first glance, the rug looks calm and simple. But when you come closer, you start to see just how detailed it is. Every part is filled with fine, careful work. The weavers have played with colours, mixed patterns, and paid attention to every inch, not leaving anything empty or plain. At the bottom, the rug flows with soft waves and zig-zag lines. As your eyes move upward, the patterns become tighter and more detailed. Near the top, in a field of tile-inspired shapes, they’ve woven a strong octagon — the ashtkon. In many traditions, the eight-sided form speaks of harmony, completeness, and the link between the material and the spiritual. For the weavers, it became the heart of their design — and a symbol of the care and discipline they bring to their craft. This rug is minimal but powerful. It shows how focused, patient, and skilled the weavers are. Even though the design is full of work, it still feels peaceful, just like the steady hands and calm minds that made it.
