Koyali and Meenu are a mother-daughter duo who have always woven Manchahas together. Over the years, they have developed a style that is uniquely their own. Meenu enjoys creating clean, modern forms, while Koyali naturally leans towards traditional motifs and intricate textures. Every rug they weave becomes a conversation between the two generations. In this Manchaha, abstract flowing forms dominate the composition, creating a landscape that feels calm and contemporary. Meenu's modern design language can be seen in the sweeping shapes and open spaces. Koyali gently weaves her touch into the rug through intricate patterns, borders, and textured details that emerge towards the bottom. The warm browns, ochres, and soft greys reminded them of the earth after the harvest, while the flowing lines resemble rivers cutting through the land. Instead of competing, the traditional and modern elements blend naturally, each making space for the other. This rug is a reflection of their relationship. Koyali said that she taught Meenu how to weave, but it is Meenu who is teaching the designs to her now. With this, they named this Manchaha “Seekh,” meaning “Learning.”
