Mor Pankhi
Mor-Pankhi, meaning ‘Peacock Feather’, beautifully reflects Bugali’s spirit as an artist. A homebound soul, she rarely travels beyond her village, yet she brings the world outside into her loom. For this Manchaha rug, she took complete charge of the loom, a space she usually shares with her mother, but this time it was entirely her own creation. She began with pure experimentation, tying knots without a fixed plan, until she found herself drawn to her favorite deep green shade of a peacock’s feather. That hue became the base of her Manchaha. From it emerged a soft pink road that transforms into a vibrant pathway, inspired by the uneven, imperfect roads of her village. This became a poetic contrast, as if Bugali intuitively understood the spirit of wabi-sabi—gently filling life’s cracks with gold. Beside this path, an abstract blue form rises, the elegant curve of a peacock’s neck shimmering with quiet grace. It’s almost unbelievable that a girl who prefers to stay indoors captures such vivid details of the life surrounding her village. Bugali has grown into a deeply realized artist, each rug revealing a new depth of her imagination. Her art now travels far beyond her home, reaching a global audience and earning her a feature in Cover Magazine’s 2025 Autumn issue. The feathers of her creativity continue to unfurl, promising to soar even higher with every new work she creates.
