ChakravyuhA woman moves through many stages in her life. With each stage, she lets go of something and learns something new. This rug holds the quiet strength of someone who has lived many lives within one, Aanchi Devi. She was married young. Her childhood ended early, and responsibility arrived too soon. As the years went by, she often felt that in taking care of everyone, she had slowly misplaced herself. When she began weaving this Manchaha with her daughter Laxmi and her friends Muskan and Manju, she spoke about this truth—how women tend to everyone else, yet rarely pause for their own well-being. Aanchi, a master weaver, guided the younger women not only in design but also in the small, lived lessons of womanhood. In the rug, they created sections—each one marking a different stage of life. At the centre, they wove a bright yellow field. Aanchi calls it the sarso ka khet, the mustard field. For her, yellow is the colour of sunlight, strength, and divinity—the inner warmth that helps a woman face her daily battles. When the rug was complete, they named it “Chakravyuh.” In ancient lore, it is a circular battle formation. Here, it becomes a metaphor for the challenges a woman walks through and the strength she carries to move through every ring of life.
