KalpavrikshaWhen Parvati traveled to Ahmedabad for the Raw Collaborative Exhibition, she was awed by the limitless possibilities of art and design. Until then, her loom had been her world, shaped by her imagination, her surroundings, and her memories. But this experience changed her perspective forever. When Parvati returned home, she carried this awakening within her. As she sat once again before her loom, the memory of that world came alive in flashes—the colors, the forms, the sheer courage to imagine without limits. For the first time in her life, she began to weave a circular rug, breaking away from what was familiar to her hands. With every knot, she traced not only what she had seen but also what she had felt. She began at the base—with a tree which she called as the ‘Kalpavriksha’, its roots alive in shades of red. But this was no ordinary tree. As she wove, its form blossomed into the outline of a feminine face—a symbol of the eternal mother, the root of all creation, the birthplace of every artwork. From this face-tree, threads spread outward in all directions, like neurons sparking, like roots entangling, like ideas growing endlessly. Through her knots, Parvati had captured a universal truth: that creation is born in the roots, in the unseen connections, in the feminine source that nurtures all life and imagination.
