SaathiyaSaroj, Kavita, and Mishri Devi wove this Manchaha as a shared language of their home. Sisters by blood and by marriage, their days move between responsibilities, conversations, disagreements, and quiet understanding. The loom became the space where all of this settled into form. The rug is built like a gathering of voices. No single pattern dominates; instead, shapes arrive, pause, overlap, and move on. Saroj, Kavita, and Mishri Devi wove this Manchaha from what their eyes meet every day. The diamonds come from the fields around their village, seen while walking together—some freshly turned, some holding crops, some left to rest. Checked patterns recall old sarees and dupattas folded at home, reused again and again. Zigzag lines follow the mud paths that connect their house to neighbours and workspaces, never straight, shaped by feet and rain. Small dots are grains spread in the courtyard to dry under the sun, scattered naturally by hand. Fine lines echo the marks of tools—ploughs, sickles, and the loom itself—worn smooth through years of work. Small symbolic forms appear quietly, almost like personal marks, not explained but firmly placed, known only to those who wove them. This Manchaha does not tell one story. It holds three stories, interconnected, sometimes contrasting, but inseparable. Like Saroj, Kavita, and Mishri Devi themselves, the rug stands steady because of its differences, woven together into a single, balanced whole. "Saathiya" is the name the weavers chose for this Manchaha rug. It means one who walks alongside a journey, reflecting a shared journey, where weaving becomes a path taken together.
