When the women who run the household sit in front of a loom, they weave a little something from their household, instantly making the most common things into a piece of art. Hansa’s Manchaha is named “Nishaan” as in “Marks or Spots.” Interestingly, Hansa weaved a mop that is usually used in her household on the hand-knotted carpet. She creatively picked a mop as her muse and weaved the pattern that water creates while she mops on the floor, which usually goes unnoticed. She fell sick while weaving the carpet, and so she had to discontinue the work in between. She resumed once she was well in good health. She weaved patterns of fairy lights in the beginning as she willed and wished for it. Such lights are often used during big Indian weddings. She says she enjoys weaving whatever is on top of her mind and does not want to weave for any materialistic gain but for the inner contentment. She lives every minute spent in front of the loom to the fullest.

• Use protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening and piling.
